About Susan
My husband and I have made our home in the peaceful mountains of Western North Carolina since 1992, when we worked together to run our home remodeling business. Together, we have built four homes, renovated two others, and renovated countless homes for clients. I have always taken an active part in designing and building these homes. From hanging ridge rafters to laying hardwood floors, I have gained much respect and understanding of what goes into a well-built home. This love of homes and home construction led me to become a Real Estate Broker in 2003 and later a General Contractor. I am also active in canine sports, competing with my golden retrievers, organizing obedience trials, and serving time on the board (past treasurer) of the Sandlapper Golden Retriever Club. In addition, I am a stained glass artist who takes much pride and satisfaction in designing and creating glass art that I often donate to benefit rescues and canine health research.
Since starting my Real Estate Career iin 2003, I have won many sales awards and, more importantly to me, several Quality Service Awards. I was Broker in Charge of a small office for several years, managing nine other agents. Feeling the need to return to what I love about real estate, I stepped down as the managing broker in 2017 to concentrate on my clients and their needs as a Broker Associate. I chose to work with Sterling Real Estate Partners because of their creativity, marketing technology, customer service, and stellar reputation in Asheville and surrounding markets.
I specialize in residential homes, small farms, and land tracks, with a particular passion for vintage homes. When marketing a vintage home or helping a buyer purchase one, you can expect a whole essay on the "genealogy" of your home. My years as a carpenter's assistant and my beginnings in marketing will be used to your benefit when selling or buying a home. Of course, for dog owners, my 30 years of training and competing with my dogs have taught me that a fenced yard for Puppy is often not enough. Sometimes we need a bit more. For both sellers and buyers, I recognize the unique needs many of us have for ourselves and our homes.
